My youngest passed her driving test last week, as a parent I have mixed feelings about this - I really wanted her to pass because she would have been so upset if she hadn't, but now I get that awful feeling in the pit of my stomach every time she gets in the car and drives off. Experience tells me it will get better with time, but may not completely wear of!
Here is the car I made to celebrate her achievement.
All the materials used to make this card were from Amuse Studio
stamps: sunset beach, celebrate in style
paper: onyx polka dot, sugar
ink: memento - rich cocoa, cherry, papaya

A year full of graduations
This year my eldest daughter will graduate from college - I'm going to need a lot of cards for her and her friends, not to mention my younger daughter , now a junior in high school will have several friends graduate high school - all in all it's going to keep me busy. I was in the mood to create this afternoon, so here is the first of many:
I wanted a graduation hat somewhere - there was no where to put it on the front - so I stuck it on the inside
The school colours are blue and gold, and since I accidentally didn't make a pretty card, it will do for boy or girl. One down, many, many to go!
All the supplies are from Amuse Studio
stamps: con-grad-ulations, big celebrations, harlequin background
paper: cobalt, sugar, saffron (formerly lido)
ink: cobalt
misc: vintage labels die set

White Ink
I think I may have just found the stampers holy grail - the perfect white ink - Memories Unicorn White by Hero Arts. It arrived in a parcel of goodies from Simon Says Stamp yesterday, and I couldn't wait to try it and see if it is up to the hype - I have to say it totally exceeded my expectations. It stays wet for quite a while, so be careful where you put it - although you could heat set it.
Here is my card:
I wasn't sure about the rose in the all for love set when I got it - I bought it for the birds, but on this card, I love it.
Apart from the white ink (as above) the remaining supplies are from Amuse Studio
stamps: all for love, thank you mix
paper: watermelon, sugar
ink: hero arts memories unicorn

Quick Valentines Card
I'd like to say that today's card was hours in the planning - I'd like to, but I can't - It was a happy accident, parts from two half prepped cards somehow got shuffled on my desk and it looked so good, I made it into a card.
Very simple, but I like it. Here is a close up of that heart, I made it by 'kissing' one of the flourishes from elegant elements onto the heart from at first sight , all that kissing is somehow appropriate for Valentines day!

Marigolds
Taking a break from cards from the class, hoping to get a good days stamping in tomorrow to try out all the new tricks I've learned this week. In the meantime, here is one of the cards I will be making at my February class - there are still a couple of places, so if you live in the Roseville, California area, why not click the'classes' tab at the top of the page and check it out?
Although. not actually homework, I was inspired to have another go at shading with Copics after watching on of the demonstrations - clearly something clicked this time, because it actually worked this time! (I'm sitting very smug at the moment :))

Cleaning Simple Card Making - Day 3
Still loving this class - lots of new techniques to try, some that were fun to try once, some that will definitely be added to my armory. The jury is out on this technique - I love the final product, but was it worth the effort (by which I mean all the cleaning of stamps and ink pads), only time will tell - that and your reaction to this card!
Stamps: chevrons, contemporary greetings
paper: grape, sugar
ink: blackberry, watermelon, heather, versamark
misc: anti-static pad, white embossing powder

Clean and Simple Card Making - Day 2
Still loving the course, here I tried a new - to me - sponging technique.
I used a heart die (I think it was a Memory Box one) to create a mask and then sponged with cherry ink - a sentiment from Amuse Studio's love me do and some valentine washi tape (also Amuse Studio) complete the project. So very happy with this one :)
